What Having a Break Has Done for Me
And what I learned from it
So, I’ve been on an unexpected break from Medium for a few weeks now. I had intended ramping up my writing here, but it didn’t quite turn out that way.
I’ve noticed a pattern in my working life. I have a couple of weeks of feeling really motivated and then I’m exhausted and can’t find the energy to do more than I have to.
It’s something I need to work on. Is it my diet? My age? My mental health? A bit of all of it? Maybe I just burn myself out in the two weeks of motivation and spend two or three weeks recovering.
Anyway, I have decided not to be too hard on myself about this. I am a human being, a single mum of two teens, and I’m doing my best.
So, here’s what’s been happening over the last two weeks…the weeks where I was supposed to be taking a break.
They started well. I had done all my social media work the week before so that I could take some time off, re-energise and just do whatever I wanted to do for a change.
It didn’t happen. Life got in the way. There were people to see, a community meeting to attend, the garden to do, stuff to do around the house, animals to look after, things to mend … the list went on and on.
