Ten Tips to Inspire Your Creative Flow
Are you finding yourself stuck when it comes to writing? Are you staring at your screen (or blank page) and wondering what the hell you’re going to write?
Well, worry no more. Here are some tried and tested techniques that should get your writing again, enhance your writing skills and help you establish a productive writing practise.
1.Outlining — I always do this now because it helps me get my thoughts down on paper (I use a notebook and pen to do this) and I can work out where the story is going before I begin. I then write up an outline and work off that as I write my novel.
2. Use mind mapping/spider diagrams or flowcharts — this will help you work out what you need to have in your book, who your characters are and where they are going in the story. These are also useful to use when writing a non-fiction book too.
3. Freewriting — you set a timer and just write. Write anything and don’t stop until the timer goes off. Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation or even if it makes sense. Trust me, this will start your writing off again and help you generate ideas.
