It’s amazing how something so little costs so much
I’m on a mission to be more frugal this year and have been taking a deep dive into my finances again.
I’ve done this before on many occasions, but while I do keep track of everything there’s always something else I could be doing to save money.
Take, for instance, the amount of hard-earned cash I spend on fizzy drinks.
Now before you have me down as a fizzy drink addict, can I tell you that I only buy a 500ml bottle of my favourite drink a day. And I don’t buy it every day.
But, I’ve worked out that with the money I’m spending every day on a small bottle of fizzy drink, I could get a holiday.
Okay, so here’s the math.: I spend approximately £1.80 on a bottle of delicious and dark fizzy drink (you know the one) every day. That amounts to £12.60 per week, £54.75 per month or £657 per year. Not enough to get me a holiday, but there’s more.
You see, being the kind and generous mother I am, I also buy my two children a small bottle of fizzy drink every day and the cost of that is even more eye-watering.
So, daily three bottles of fizzy drinks at £1.80 each costs me £5.40. This amounts to £37.80 per week, £164.25 per month or… sigh … £1971 per year. Nearly £2000 on fizzy drinks! That is just ridiculous.
