There are thousands of beauty products out there for every part of the body from hair to toes. But, not every can afford to spend hundreds of pounds on things to make them look good.

So, here are a few fast and frugal beauty tips that you can make with items from your store cupboard, that are cheap to do and will have your skin, hair and body looking and smelling wonderful.

Tip 1 — hair care

Don’t just keep olive oil for cooking. You can use it for your hair too. Apply it to hair and scalp, leave it for 20 minutes and then wash out.

Tip 2 — tackle those split ends

Tackle dry, split ends by putting coconut oil on them. It will condition split ends and make them appear smoother.

Tip 3 — spruce up dingy hair

Hair looking drab? Need to use a specialist product on it, but can’t afford to buy one? Use mayonnaise! Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes and then wash off with a mild shampoo. You’ll be left with lovely shiny hair.

Tip 4 — to get that skin tingling

Mix sea salt with a little olive oil and use as a body scrub

Tip 5 — for dry and sore skin

Got dry and sore skin? Add oatmeal to your bath. Oatmeal will help lubricate and moisturise your skin whilst soothing soreness and itchiness.

Tip 6 — give yourself a circulation boost

Take a cold shower. Yes, really! A cold shower, even for a couple of minutes, will improve circulation, increase your metabolism, boost immunity and make your feel alert. To help you with this, alternate hot and cold when you are showering — a method called the Scottish technique!

Tip 7 — a great hand moisturiser

Exfoliate dry hands. Use a mixture of olive oil and sugar. Rinse and moisturise.

Tip 8 — an old-fashioned treatment for acne and dandruff

Use rosewater to treat acne and as a rinse for dandruff. Its beautiful smell is also a great stress reducer! You can buy it online or at your local pharmacy.

Tip 9 — this is so good for your complexion

To freshen up dull skin, mix honey with apple juice. Place in a thin layer on your face. Wash off after five minutes.

Tip 10 — here’s a quick remedy for puffy eyes

Reduce puffy eyes by splashing with cold water or by using a cold compress (made of ice cubes in a cloth): 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off.
